Laboratories visit to 2 labs in School of EEE, Nanyang Technological University.
The labs are:

1. Smart Mobility Test Bed with live V2X demo
2. Centre for Optical Fibre Technology (COFT)

  • Buffet dinner will be provided from 6.00pm to 7.00pm after the lab visits.
  • Two ways transport (bus) will be provided from the Conference venue to NTU.
  • Bus leaves Conference venue at 4.00pm for NTU
  • Bus leaves NTU venue at 7.15pm for the Conference venue

Overview of laboratories information

Smart Mobility Test Bed (SMTB)​
The Smart Mobility Test Bed (SMTB) is campus-wide Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Test Bed for developing and implementing “live” technologies to advance the capabilities of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) based on the IEEE 802.11p and 1609 standards. It paves the way to realizing Singapore’s Smart Mobility 2030 vision to optimize transport systems and enhance commuter travel experience with the latest advancements in transport technologies. The test-bed provides facility for field trials, use case co-development, compatibility checks for ITS/V2X standards and R&D for the future ITS industry. It also provides a testing ground for mobile app developers, start-up companies and students to explore new areas of ITS.  NTU is committed to develop new knowledge and innovative technologies to help achieve sustainable mobility for society.

The SMTB project is a flagship ITS industry collaboration between the School of EEE, NTU, and the Dutch Semiconductor group NXP , supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). ​

Centre for Optical Fibre Technology (COFT)
The Centre for Optical Fibre Technology (COFT) is a new NTU initiative that intends to bring all fibre-based research at NTU under one roof. COFT is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the centre is well-placed to fabricate optical fibres - both standard as well as specialty fibres. The centre aims to become a centre of excellence in the advanced research of optical fibres and their related technologies, developing core capabilities and technologies for specialty optical fibre fabrication and characterisation. COFT is the first of its kind in Singapore which aims to serve as a platform for an exciting variety of opportunities in the photonic industry and research sectors.
