NTU EEE's Class of 2017: Wan Ying

Ms Wan Ying is graduating with NTU EEE’s Class of 2017, achieving a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) with first class honours. She is an award winner for the upcoming NTU Convocation for the following: Defence Science & Technology Agency Gold Medal.

What are some of your favourite university activities?
They were the: NTU EEE Week, and also the NTU EEE Family Day. The NTU EEE week event is a busy but undoubtedly a meaningful period for all NTU EEE club members. Members need to prepare for different activities such as booth games, project exhibitions, etc. This event thus enables us to know more about NTU EEE in an interesting way.
NTU EEE Family Day is a special day for sure, for all NTU EEE students and staffs to gather together. We can feel free to join any table for dinner and make new friends everywhere. We can also showcase our talents, no matter it be singing, dancing or playing magic. It really is a good way to bond people together and let us feel a great sense of belonging as a member of the big NTU EEE family!

What are some of your memories as a university student?
During my time as an undergraduate, I joined several different clubs such as the NTU EEE club, Student Union, Red Cross club and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) NTU on campus! I had wonderful experiences in organising various activities, taking part in competitions and making friends with all sorts of people. In my third year, I took a one-semester overseas exchange programme, and had the chance to explore the outside world and experience different cultures. These are some of the unforgettable memories I had during my undergraduate days.

What do you like about NTU EEE?
I cultivated a solid strong interest in electrical and electronic engineering and I enjoyed my three years’ study in NTU EEE very much! In NTU EEE, we can get access to world class teaching resources and lab facilities, and definitely be well trained as a future engineer with in-depth theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills. Besides, the well-recognised and globally ranked NTU name is seen as a reliable launching “platform” for a person’s career after graduation these days! Each year, several well-recognised MNCs come to NTU EEE to recruit fresh graduates. NTU EEE graduates have been positively earning high reputations for their performances in their workplaces! NTU EEE and the Career and Attachment Office actively organise large recruitment events and establish different graduate programmes to help graduating students to plan for their desired career paths.

What are your plans after graduating?
I am going to stay put at NTU EEE – because I’m continuing on to complete a PhD!
What do you have to say to current and future undergrads
Study hard, play hard, and make more friends. Enjoy the university life for sure.
