Leong Yew Kong is the Vice President, Engineering, in Singapore Technologies Dynamics Pte Ltd, the Advanced Engineering Centre of Singapore Technologies Engineering. At the same time, he has been instrumental in bridging the research community and the industry. He has served as the Deputy Director of Intelligent Systems Centre (Intellisys), a co-sponsored research centre between Singapore Technologies Engineering and Nanyang Technological University. He reports to the CTO of ST Engineering and assists the CTO in running the operations of ST Dynamics and strategizing development direction of the company.
In addition, he has been the business champion for various initiatives in ST Dynamics, in the areas of intelligent system, robotics and energy solution. He develops businesses for the company based on acquired new technology and engineering developments in the company. In his role, he is active in helping to company to cement partnership with startups, technology partners and distribution channels. He has a keen interest in working with startups.
Leong Yew Kong was instrumental in the set up of mobile robotics capabilities in ST Kinetics and ST Dynamics. He started and headed the unmanned ground vehicle effort in ST Kinetics. In ST Dynamics, he was the head of the mobile robotics team and currently, is setting up a joint research lab with a local university.
Leong Yew Kong holds a B Eng (1st class) in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a MSc in Financial Engineering from the NUS. He also attended an UC Berkeley/NTU joint Advanced Management Program.
In his spare time, he lectures for NTU on Entrepreneurship.
