The School has more than 160 full-time faculty members with broad and varied background and strong research and professional expertise. Apart from teaching the undergraduate and graduate courses, faculty members are active in research and development, engaging in a broad range of collaborations with renowned overseas universities, research institutes and multinational companies. As of 2011, the total research manpower comprises 720 graduate students and 280 research staff working with faculty on various research projects
EEE has established 50 laboratories and 9 advanced research Centres which are well-equipped with modern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment to support undergraduate teaching and graduate research programmes. The 9 mega centres: INFINITUS, NOVITAS, VALENS, OPTIMUS, LUMINOUS!, VIRTUS, and EXQUISITUS (INVOLVE), and 2 joint research centres with defence – Electromagnetic Effects Research Laboratory (EMERL) and Satellite Research Centre (SaRC) – to advance and enhance research competiveness. The main objective is to have wide-spread centres of excellence to promote multi-disciplinary research and inter-centres collaboration. This restructuring will give the centres greater autonomy, make them more response and, over the long term, deliver results and create impact. These centres could potentially offer good and exciting jobs, and allow top researchers to pursue their dreams and nurture them extraordinary.
